Our 50th will be in 2013 and we have already held two planning sessions!  Inputs are very welcome, either via email (see Contacts tab) or post something on the blog (see Blog tab.)

Below are the meeting notes from our most recent meeting, compiled by Betsy Buck Hansen.

Hey Blue Devils,

Our most recent SHS 50th Reunion planning session took place Saturday, February 25, at George’s Neighborhood Grill. Those attending were: Betsy Hansen, Dave Miller, Cheryl Troyer, Jessica White, Gwen Kelley, Grant Shipley, Cathy & Paul Johnson, Steve Kegg and Jack Wickencamp. Our next meeting will be at 12:30pm on April 21 at George’s.

Betsy reviewed her meeting with Sally Cook and Ann Farrell, Class of ’62, who are planning their 50th for this June. They have some great ideas, and an impressive mailer that we can use as a guide for ours.

Since Shortridge returned to being a high school in 2009, the first Senior Class will be graduating in 2013. We have already met with Shortridge and expressed our desire to be involved and also tour the school as part of our weekend. Gwenn, Jack Wickencamp, and Tom Ehrich, will be our liaisons for coordinating all of this with SHS and the Class of 2013. They will investigate dates, as well as doing something special for the grads.

Jessica will put together a survey to send and gather input for our weekend, as well as compile the responses.

Cheryl will coordinate the updating of contact information. Grant will assist by searching for “lost” classmates. Dave will assemble the list, develop and keep our web site up to date, and coordinate the production of a video slide show to display during the evening. He will need some volunteers to help with this, as well as lots of photos.

We were each given a list of names to call to get email addresses, which are to be sent back to Cheryl and Dave by March 10th. Cheryl will also need two more volunteers to help with this.

Paul & Cathy have volunteered to research venues. We discussed Friday having a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres, possibly at a restaurant; and Saturday having dinner and dancing with a band or DJ. We agreed that the venue needs to be large enough for those who want to talk to be able get away from the “noise”.

We also discussed developing a book with photos. We’re looking for someone to take charge of that.

We hope you can join us at 12:30pm on April 21 at George’s.

Go Team !!! — Betsy Hansen :o )
